Download Description

This page provides information about how to get downloads for older releases of IBM Explorer for z/OS (z/OS Explorer) and CICS Explorer that are still in service (5.5 onwards) as well as those that are out of service (pre 5.3). Note, it is no longer possible to obtain CICS Explorer 5.4 and 5.3.

Prior to 5.3, the latest level of each service stream for each release is available from this page. Version 5.5 of CICS Explorer and version 5.3 and 5.4 of the CICS Tools plug-ins are available from the Mainframe Development Center. By making these older downloads available here, you can continue to acquire them in support of your enterprise.

For the latest release of downloads for z/OS Explorer and CICS Explorer, three scenarios for downloading and installing are supported:

Using IBM Installation Manager ⁽¹⁾ ⁽³⁾
Using the Eclipse P2 update mechanism
Direct download and manual installation ⁽²⁾

Notes:
⁽¹⁾ IBM Explorer for z/OS forms part of CICS Explorer from release 5.1 onwards, and is incorporated into the IBM Installation Manager scenario from release 5.1.1 onwards.

⁽²⁾ This is not applicable for the CICS Tools plug-ins from 5.3 onwards.

⁽³⁾ This is available from CICS Explorer 5.5.28 (33.0.3) for CICS Explorer for Aqua 3.3.

If you need to determine the releases of the CICS tools plug-ins for CICS Explorer that are compatible with the release of the CICS Explorer that you are using, then refer to the z/OS Explorer, CICS Explorer and CICS tools plug-ins release compatibility reference tables. These tables also show which release of the Eclipse SDK is required for each release of the CICS Explorer.

CICS Explorer also provides national language support for Japanese and Simplified Chinese.

IMPORTANT: Be aware of extracting CICS Explorer into a location with an existing long path name. This can lead to errors during extraction where the path length might exceed that permitted by the target operating system. If in doubt, extract CICS Explorer to a root directory or similar, such as C:\ or C:\CICS_Explorer. Furthermore, unzipping CICS Explorer on Microsoft Windows platforms might result in a request for a password. If this occurs, the unzip process might not complete successfully.
