Industry Experts Recognize IBM Security

IBM Security in Asia Pacific was awarded in the following two categories for 2017:

Asia-Pacific Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems

This award is based on business performance, technology innovation and offerings, and establishment and achievements in Asia-Pacific. IBM Security was cited for continuing its efforts to introduce added capabilities to its holistic offerings.

The native integration between IBM QRadar XGS with IBM cloud-based sandbox, IBM QRadar SIEM and IBM X-Force Exchange — together with its strong business establishment in every key country in Asia-Pacific, including the emerging Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) — has offered increased value to customers. IBM Security has secured its leadership position in this space through its continuous innovation of IBM Security Network Protection Manager (NPM) as a central web-based console to manage IBM QRadar XGS appliances.

Asia-Pacific Cybersecurity Analytics Platform

IBM Security has excelled in delivering a platform with extensive capabilities in cybersecurity analytics. It has been able to provide security solutions with notable wins across multiple verticals as well as innovation to bring extended capabilities, such as user behavior analytics, into the fold.

IBM has continuously expanded its capabilities in developing the cognitive security operations center (SOC) through rapid integration of QRadar with Watson, which helps customers achieve an automated and secure IT infrastructure.

Ultimately, the success…

Researchers develop malicious AI ‘worm’ targeting generative AI systems

2 min read - Researchers have created a new, never-seen-before kind of malware they call the "Morris II" worm, which uses popular AI services to spread itself, infect new systems and steal data. The name references the original Morris computer worm that wreaked havoc on the internet in 1988.The worm demonstrates the potential dangers of AI security threats and creates a new urgency around securing AI models.New worm utilizes adversarial self-replicating promptThe researchers from Cornell Tech, the Israel Institute of Technology and Intuit, used what’s…

Passwords, passkeys and familiarity bias

5 min read - As passkey (passwordless authentication) adoption proceeds, misconceptions abound. There appears to be a widespread impression that passkeys may be more convenient and less secure than passwords. The reality is that they are both more secure and more convenient — possibly a first in cybersecurity. Most of us could be forgiven for not realizing passwordless authentication is more secure than passwords. Thinking back to the first couple of use cases I was exposed to — a phone operating system (OS) and a…
