IBM Support

IBM CL/SUPERSESSION Multi-Node Persistent Sessions support

Question & Answer

Question

Does CL/SUPERSESSION support Multi-Node Persistent Sessions (MNPS) support?

Answer

CL/SUPERSESSION itself does not use MNPS to maintain disconnected sessions. If the application accessed from CL/SUPERSESSION is capable of using MNPS, the operation is transparent to users. However, sessions will appear to "hang" while the disrupted session is taken over by the backup application.

Recommendation for Maximum Availability

We recommend running multiple CL/SUPERSESSION address spaces each of whose HOSTGATEs are defined as VTAM Generic Resources.

For additional information regarding multiple address space support, refer to the document Two IBM CL/SUPERSESSIONs are better than one.

For additional information on CL/SUPERSESSION VTAM Generic Resource support, refer to the document IBM CL/SUPERSESSION VTAM Generic Resource Support.
