IBM Support

INITPARM value masked with commas when configuring WOLA support in CICS

Question & Answer

Question

Why is the SEC=N portion of the INITPARM string being converted to 5 commas ',,,,,', representing each character of SEC=N, regardless of where it occurs in the INITPARM string? I am coding an INITPARM value for the WebSphere optimized local adapters (WOLA) support in CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS). I specified the following in the CICS system initialization table (SIT):

    INITPARM=(BBOACPL2='SEC=N SVC=* TRC=0 MXC=10 MNC=1 REU=N TXN=N')

My external security manager is CA Top Secret from CA Technologies.

Answer

Both CICS and CA Top Secret mask some sensitive fields, however the INITPARM string in this case should not be masked. CA Top Secret currently provides a ++APAR to resolve this problem, TR90099. The fix has a pre-requisite of RO87993.

Contact CA Technologies if you need additional assistance.
