Question & Answer
Question
Why am I unable to sign in to z/OS Connect running in a CICS Liberty JVMServer? I have configured my Liberty JVMServer to have the z/OS Connect feature by adding cicsts:zosConnect-1.0 to my server.xml file. However, when I try to connect to https://hostname:portnumber/zosConnect/services it does not work. I am first prompted with a warning indicating the certificate cannot be verified and asking if I trust the source. I accept and then get a prompt for basic authentication asking for my username and password. I type in my username and password correctly but when I hit enter, I get the same basic authentication prompt.
Answer
The cause of this behavior is due to not having started the angel process. You should see the following messages in the messages.log file in your JVMServers working directory:
CWWKB0101I: The angel process is not available. No authorized services will be loaded.
CWWKB0104I: Authorized service group SAFCRED is not available.
followed by message:
CWWKS1100A: Authentication did not succeed for user ID xxxxxxxx. An invalid user ID or password was specified.
Refer to The Liberty server angel process in the CICS documentation for instructions on how to start up the angel process.
